Updated · Based on official sources listed below · How we research

  1. New: SNAP work requirement guides in Spanish (en español)

The checker, the 3-month time limit calculator, the exemptions guide, the waived areas list, the guide to getting SNAP back, and the state list are now in Spanish, with Spanish guides for Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina and Texas. The Spanish tools give their results in Spanish and use the same rules as the English tools. Each English page with a translation links to it.

  2. New: who has to meet the SNAP work requirement, group by group

We added plain-language pages for 10 groups: veterans, people experiencing homelessness, former foster youth, adults 55 to 64, parents of teens, college students, pregnant people, people with disabilities, American Indians and Alaska Natives, and gig and seasonal workers. Each page explains whether the time limit applies, what changed under H.R. 1 and when, the exact rule, the proof usually needed, and what to do next.

  3. New: SNAP waived areas by county, city and reservation

We added a list of every area where USDA has approved a waiver of the 3-month time limit, with a page for each of the 12 states that have one. Waivers in Alaska and Michigan end October 31, 2026, with no renewal posted yet. California's new waiver for November 1, 2026 to October 31, 2027 covers seven counties. Waivers in Kentucky, Minnesota, New Mexico and Oregon end between November 30 and December 31, 2026.

  4. SNAP Work Requirements launches with a checker and 51 state guides

The site launched with a work requirement checker, a 3-month time limit calculator, an exemptions guide and a page for every state and Washington, D.C., covering the changes from Public Law 119-21.
